The New Media Certificate is a certificate program at the University of Georgia which teaches students about new media technologies and how to use them in their desired industry. Students take an introductory course, a web development course, a course discussing jobs in the industry, and have access to a variety of new media electives to further their knowledge. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to pursue this certificate, and believe that it is an excellent supplement to my public relations major. Through the New Media Institute, I have learned so much about technology, its role in the media industry, and how to use it effectively.
NMIX 4110 – New Media Production
In the course New Media Production, students learn basic web development skills. In this project-based course, I gained an understanding of how to use HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and WordPress to develop functioning websites and read elements of code.
